Professor David Neary

David Neary is Professor of Neurology at the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre and University of Manchester and Director of the Cerebral Function Unit.  Professor Neary qualified in Medicine at the University of Manchester and trained in Neurology at Manchester Royal Infirmary and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.  He carried out Postgraduate research in the Neuro-behavioural Unit, Boston, USA.  He was appointed Consultant Neurologist in 1975 and Professor of Neurology in 1991.  He set up the Cerebral Function unit, a multidisciplinary centre for the diagnosis and investigation of dementia in the 1980s.  He has written over 150 scientific papers and published 3 text books on dementia and neuro-anatomy, and is an invited Lecturer on dementia throughout the world.
