Steve Chew-Graham

Steve qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Dorset in 1990 and as a Registered Mental Nurse in Manchester in 1992.

In 1998 he gained a Diploma in Professional Practice in Nursing at the University of Salford and in 2005 went on to gain a BSc (Hons) Mental Health (2:1) at the University of Salford, where he was also awarded the Salford University School of Nursing prize.

He has worked in several clinical areas both within general and mental health in the UK and abroad before joining the Cerebral Function Unit in 2009 as Brain Bank Co-ordinator for the Manchester area.

Steve liaises with carers and those diagnosed with dementia who wish to donate their brain tissue for research upon death. He co-ordinates all aspects of the donation process and as part of this carries out cognitive assessments of potential donors in their homes.

Steve has also been involved in clinical trials investigating the effectiveness of several medications for Alzheimer’s disease and depression and is currently the North West Network administrator for the Alzheimer's Research UK .
